When is our next family reunion?  We should be on track for 2010, but here's a report from the 2008 one.  Everyone is still talking about how great it was!

2008 Family Reunion a huge success!

Over 50 people attended the 2008 reunion held at Barb and Tim's house.   All the early morning rain couldn't stop a mad rush of Romanians who came together from across the country.

Following is commentary from attendee Beverly Lange:  "Thanks everyone for a great time at Talabapalooza 2008!!  The time passed much too quickly, but I am left with warm memories of a beautiful day spent with family----AND with the sweet knowledge that I beat the pants off Barb and Dizee at Talaba Trivia.  Ha!"

Ashley Lange reported: "Hey everyone!! What a wonderful day we had! And once again, I feel fortunate that I was able to kidnap Max and stir up a little trouble :) Hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer and take care. - Love, Ashley"

And now a word from Eric Sanchez, fresh from his FIRST Talaba Family Reunion: "It was nice meeting everybody and I had a great time at the Reunion."

Barbara George wrote: "Thanks everyone for coming to my house and making the family reunion such a success.  Like Traci said when people come at noon and leave at midnight, they must be having fun.  I know I sure did.  I look forward to planning another in the near future.  Love you all and that is why I do it. Besides wanting to keep us all in touch.  Family is Forever!"

Leslie (Chuck's fiance' said) "What a fantastic time we had - AGAIN - at the reunion!  My sister, Cindy, had a wonderful time, too.  I knew she would fit right in! It's nice to see a family play together!  We have a tiny family but when we get together, everyone adds their own spice! Like yours!"

Diane "Dizee" Klepser stated:  "It was great to have us all together.....amazing how quickly we could get out-of-touch if Barbara Ann didn't have these get togethers....Thank God for Barbara Ann and Tim."

Got pix - send them now and we'll post!

Talaba Speak Phrase of the Month:

Cockco-flique or coucou-flick (adj.) Slightly crazy, off kilter, generally meant in a nice way if referring to family.

Cudu-gal (adj.) Naked, nude, nekkid.  In the old days (before the 1980's,) children were often bathed in the kitchen sink.  You were then dried and ran around the house while everyone shrieked "Cudu-gal! Cudu-gal!" This could also occur after a dip in Elk Lake or Grand Traverse Bay.

Triesta (n.) a bag of food you have brought with you (since you never know when you'll be hungry) or a bag of food you have stolen - oops, borrowed -- from a free source such as work, a family reunion or a funeral meal.

Booha (din Greely)
(n) having big hair, bed hair, uncombed; orig by Ana and passed on by Sylvia and Ellie.  There was a child in the old neighborhood with wild hair.  She lived on Greely street (south of Nevada and east of I-75).  Ashley Lange as a youth pronounced it "Booha Dinga Daily"

Christi Lumenasti

I always thought this translated as "Christ Light of the World "and followed Dadia Dracul.  No one else seems to remember this and it didn't Google.  What do you remember?
